It was a bittersweet gathering for our team, and some alumni, last week to farewell our fearless leader Susan Bannigan who has decided to retire from corporate life. Susan has held many senior roles across Westpac Group over the past 26 years, and in her last 12 years she has driven the strategic transformation of the Westpac Foundation with a critical focus on job creation for vulnerable Australians and helped pioneer the Westpac Scholarship Program via the Westpac Scholars Trust. We laughed about Susan’s idea bombs and dancing at the National Selection Panels and we reflected on her strategic clarity, compassion, curiosity and brilliant way with people. As a team we savoured our time listening and learning from Susan on a personal and professional level. Your legacy will live on in the Foundation and Trust and also in everyone who has had the privilege of working with you or being supported by you along the way.
